CHARLIE WURZ FAST IN FIA F3 TEST DAYS AT IMOLA
The 10 teams of the FIA F3 Championship met on 23rd / 24th October 2023 for the last official test days at the Autodromo di Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola (I). Behind the wheels of the FIA F3 Jenzer racing machines were again Max Esterson, Charlie Wurz and Matias Zagazeta. While the first day was accompanied by good weather, cold temperatures and rain affected the second day but the teams took advantage to collect more data in wet conditions.
In the first morning the focus was on qualifying simulations. At the end of the stint, Charlie was in the top ten in a very good 8th place. Max closed the session in a positive 14th position, while Matias was in a good 25th. In the afternoon, long runs were carried out with a focus on the race pace. It was only in the final minutes of the session that our drivers put together some faster laps. Charlie closed the day in 14th place, followed by Matias in 15th position and Max in 17th.
On the second morning the team and drivers worked on short runs, but several red flags interrupted the session and it was very tricky to complete the laps. Charlie was in a very positive 11th by midday, while Max was in a good 18th position and Matias in 23rd. During the lunch break, rain came and the afternoon session got delayed by 30 minutes. With now a new schedule – from 13:30 to 16:30 – our drivers took advantage of the wet conditions to gain some experience in the rain. Charlie finished the day in a brilliant second place, while Max was in a very good 5th position. Matias tried different settings and closed the day in 29th position.
