THE NEW FIA F4 TATUUS RACE CAR UNDERGOES ITS FIRST TEST
The new FIA F4 Tatuus race car made its first appearance on the Vairano (I) track with all the new series’ officials in attendance, as well as a representative of the FIA.
Raffaele Giammaria, ACI CSAI Federal School's director completed 120 laps of the 2.5 km circuit following the scheduled programme that involved 300 km in the presence of the engineers who worked on the development of the car. He commented afterwards on the shakedown: "I had very positive sensations behind the wheel, and I believe this is a formula that will really suit both youngsters coming from karting as well as more experienced drivers. Despite the lack of a big aerodynamic load – as per the FIA's regulations - Tatuus did a great job with the chassis and the synergy with the Pirelli tyres makes up for the low aero load. We already know the Abarth engine unit and, with a few less brake horsepower it has become more gentle at lower revs but still offers very good progression and excellent top speed. On top of that, the shift paddle enables young drivers to drive an easier car but with a type of driving that gets closer to that of higher categories.”
The first collective test day will be held on 16th May in Adria (I).
