Saturday, 11/09/21, 11.45, Weather: Sunny, 19°C

On Saturday morning 32 drivers were ready on the grid for what turned out to be an exciting first race of the weekend. When the lights went out, Francesco made a superb getaway to soon find himself up in 12th postition. A safety car had to be deployed during the opening stages, but Francesco restarted well to gain another position. By lap 8, our Italian driver had already closed up to Patrese, but overtaking was challenging. Francesco made a brave but brilliant move to take 10th place and kept it until the chequered flag, taking the final point on offer. 2nd in the rookie standings, Francesco proudly stepped on the podium at the end of the race. Piotr didn’t get away well fell back a few places in the opening laps, finding himself in 19th position. However, he didn’t give up and quickly began to close the gap on those ahead. The Polish driver was soon back in 17th place and fought his way up to eventually cross the line in 12th place. A well fought race saw our Swiss driver Samir, who started from 20th position, making steady moves to climb up the field. He took 14th position when the chequered flag waved. From 18th spot on the grid, Santiago made a clear getaway. The Mexican driver was involved in many battles during the entire race and crossed the finish line in 16th place. Race Two (30 minutes + 1 lap)

Sunday, 12/09/21, 11.25, Weather: Overcast, 19°C

The second race got underway at 11:25 and it was filled with action and Safety Cars. Francesco started from the 11th place on the grid and with a good getaway he immediately gained two positions. He was 9th when, taking advantage of a wide moment from Patrese, Francesco powered past the AKM driver to take the 8th position. Having clean air now, our Italian driver was quickly able to close the gap with the ones in front of him and, on lap 6, he muscled his way past Simonazzi with a brilliant move. As Bedrin had to retire after a contact with his teammate, Francesco was now 6th in the standings. At this point a Safety Car had to be deployed, followed by another shortly after when Jorge got caught in an accident with Markogiannis and Han – putting an end to his race. A final Safety Car had to be deployed when a contact between Samir and Armanni launched Samir’s car into the air ending his race prematurely. Both our drivers were ok, but unfortunately their races were over. The final interruption lasted until the end of the race and Francesco crossed the line in an impressive 6th place - 1st in the rookie standings. 14th on the grid, Santiago didn’t manage a smooth getaway and got overtaken at the start. The Mexican driver fought back and on this challenging circuit, he was able to climb back up on 13th place. Unfortunately, a contact with another driver pushed Santiago wide in the gravel. The Mexican driver rejoined the race in 16th place right when the first Safety Car was called on track and promptly began to recover at the restart. Santiago eventually crossed the line in 15th position. Further back on the grid, Piotr started 29th and worked his way up through the field. He finished the race in 16th place, with 13 positions gained.

Race Three (28 minutes + 1 lap)

Sunday, 12/09/21, 17.15, Weather: Overcast, 20°C

When the cars lined up on the grid for the start of the race it started raining, meaning the third race got underway behind Safety Car. At the end of the first lap, a lot of cars decided to pit to fit wet tyres – Jorge was among these cars. Samir wrongly came in the pits and lost his position, he came out further down the order with still slick tyres on. Francesco was among the ones that didn’t stop to change tyres and was cautiously running in a very positive 4th position. On a very slippery and wet track and with slick tyres on, Francesco lost a few places and dropped down to 10th place, but was still going when Montoya spun and hit him from behind – putting an end to his race. Santiago was also fitting slick tyres and was trying to battle when a contact with Patrese left our Mexican driver trapped in the gravel – his race was also over. On these very difficult conditions, with several crashes occurring and multiple safety cars being deployed, finishing the race safely was very important. Jorge, Piotr and Samir managed to reach the chequered flag safely and crossed the line in 23rd, 24th and 25th place respectively.
