Concept of FIA Formula 3 Championship

FIA Formula 1 Grand Prix Programme

2010 saw the launch of the new GP3 Series, based on the GP2 philosophy and its values: performance, cost control, entertainment, safety and preparation. The new series has been designed to make it the perfect driver training ground for GP2 and Formula One.
Jenzer Motorsport is one of the 10 teams selected from more than 40 applicants for a place in the series. The team runs three cars in the eight rounds (two races per round/weekend) which are run as part of programme of the European F1 Grand Prix weekends. In 2012 the GP3 Series went to Monaco for the first time, and in 2013 the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was the last race of the year. In 2014 two race events will take place outside of Europe, one in Sochi (RUS), and one in Abu Dhabi (UAE). With that the series for the first time consists of 9 events which all feature as support act to Formula 1.
The high standards set for GP3 guarantee lots of interest from young drivers as well as from their sponsors.
The GP3 Series offers you completely new possibilities for accessing new sources of revenue, not just by virtue of its high profile presence in the F1 paddock, but also because of the wide media coverage that is being provided by the organisers. These factors will help you attract and keep the attention of potential new investors. Since 2012 the official website also offers LIVE TIMING.
The second generation car has now been designed and developed which will run from 2013 until 2015. The technical and philosophical concepts of this new machine are aimed at making the GP3/13 a faster and more powerful car, thanks to a naturally aspirated 400bhp engine. Although the car has the same level of downforce, its design has been modified to include a new nose, sidepods and engine cover, which makes it 3 to 4 seconds a lap quicker on average.
From 2019 the FIA Formula 3 Championship, as the series is now called, will take over the same tasks. Just as the GP2 became the FIA Formula 2, now the GP3 gets renamed (FIA Formula 3 Championship). 10 teams have been be re-selected, and Jenzer Motorsport has been confirmed. A new racing car, equipped with the latest security features, completes the picture. These include further systems that are also used in Formula 1: including the DRS (Drag Reduction System), the VSC (Virtual Safety Car System), and with the Halo the latest security feature.
