JENZER DRIVERS PROMISING IN FIA F3 TESTS IN JEREZ

The 10 teams of the FIA F3 Championship met on 5^th & 6^th October 2023 at the Circuito do Jerez (E) for the first of three FIA post-season test events. Driving for Jenzer Motorsport was Max Esterson (GB): coming from GB3, however he was no newcomer to the FIA F3 machines, having completed two rounds in Silverstone and Budapest during the 2023 FIA F3 season. Alongside him, rookie Charlie Wurz (A) was stepping up from EuroFormula Open. With some previous experience in FIA F3 test days, rookie Matias Zagazeta (PE) completed our line-up for this event. The sun shone over the circuit on both days and temperatures were quite hot reaching over 30°C each day. Teams and drivers – exactly half of whom were new to FIA F3 – eagerly got down to business.

The first morning was all about getting to know the team, the car and the track. Nonetheless, our drivers did a very good job with Charlie finishing the session in great 10^th position, Max in 20^th and Matias in 22^nd. The afternoon session got underway at two o’clock, with the drivers keen to put more laps under their belts. Charlie was the best of the 15 rookies in the afternoon, closing the day in excellent 8^th place. Max finished the afternoon session in 20^th place, with Matias in 21^st position in the 30 car strong field.

The second morning saw the drivers busy with the qualifying simulations. Once again, our drivers carried out a great job. Charlie closed the session in a promising 11^th position, Max in 23^rd and Matias in 25^th. With only one hour break, action quickly got underway again. For the afternoon session, the focus was switched on to the long runs. In the end of the day all our drivers shone: Charlie was 3^rd, Matias 4^th and Max 5^th.
