The fourth of six race events featuring the 2022 FIA F4 ADAC German Championship was held on the short version of the Nürburgring (D). Hot, wet-cold and also sunny weather accompanied the weekend in a typical Nürburgring weather mix.

Qualifying

Friday, 05/08/2022, 17.25 – 18.00, Weather: Overcast, 18°C

According to the regulations, there are two 30-minute free practice sessions per race and two 15-minute qualifying sessions, which are held with a short 10-minute break in between. The fastest time per driver from the first session counts for the starting grid of the 1^st race, the fastest time per driver from the second session counts for the starting grid for the 2^nd race. The 3^rd race will start in the same way as the 2^nd race ended, but with the eight drivers in reverse order. The three races each have a length of 30 minutes.

Race One (30 minutes)

Saturday, 06/08/2022, 11.35, Weather: Sunny, 18°C

After Friday had offered everything from rain to fog to sunshine, the weather on Saturday morning was sunny, albeit a bit chilly. The start went well and the field made the first corners without incident. It then showed once again how important starting positions are, because overtaking is not easy on this technical track. Rasmus got off to a very good start and on the first lap he managed to move up two positions. He also managed to break away from his pursuers and thus bring the excellent 7^th place to the finish. Nandhavud lost a position at the start and aimed to regain it over several laps. He finally succeeded. He tried to improve further until the end and finally finished in 11^th place. Samir got off to a good start and fought for positions with Sauter. At the end of the race Samir saw the finish line in 13^th place.

Race Two (30 minutes)

Sunday, 07/08/2022, 09.55, Weather: Overcast, 17°C

The sun was shining again on Sunday morning and a large crowd had already gathered to enjoy the races. The start went well and Rasmus defended his 8^th place. Behind them, Kluss and Ried battled it out, and Nandhavud managed to get past them to sit just behind Rasmus in 9^th place. Rasmus and Nandhavud then made no mistakes and brought their positions home safely. Rasmus thus secured pole position in the third race, in which the reverse order of the first eight of the finish of the second race will be started. Nandhavud also scored more points with a top ten finish. Samir had started well and was 11^th at times, but after some late braking he found himself in 12^th place. He brought it home safely.

Race Three (30 minutes)

Sunday, 07/08/2022, 17.05, Weather: Sunny, 22°C

At the end of Sunday afternoon, the third Formula 4 race started on time. Rasmus did very well and took the lead. This went very well for a few laps until Laursen launched an attack, prompting Rasmus to go straight into the chicane. He took first place again, with a good lead over Laursen. Laursen was now under pressure from Wharton and had already fallen back one place. Race officials felt Rasmus had gained an advantage and demanded that he drop behind Laursen. With that he had to let pass Wharton and Laursen and was now in 3^rd place. Antonelli now put the pressure on and Rasmus had to let him go. But now he had found a good rhythm and safely brought an excellent 5^th place home. Nandavhud didn't get away well and found himself far behind. He was then fighting for places with Samir and managed to get past Samir. But the fight wasn't over yet, and the two clashed again. In the end, Nandhavud was 11^th and Samir was 12^th.

The next race meeting in the ADAC Formula 4 Championship is planned to take place on the weekend of 21^st August 2022 at the Lausitzring (D).
