Qualifying

Friday, 07/06/2019, 17.50 – 18.25, Weather: Sunny, 25°C

This year the series regulations allow for two 15-minute qualifying sessions, with a break of 5 minutes in between. The fastest lap time for each driver in session 1 sets the grid for Race One and the fastest lap time in the second session is used to set the starting positions for Race Two. The grid for Race Three is determined by the results of Race Two, with the first eight finishers starting in reverse order.

Race One (30 minutes)

Saturday, 08/06/2019, 13.15, Weather: Sunny, 26°C

The conditions were ideal and the race started in the most beautiful sunshine. However, it wasn’t long before two accidents occurred and the Safety Car was deployed. Giorgio and Jonny made good starts and were in 12th and 13th places. They had even swapped places, but Giorgio was soon ahead again. Axel was racing in 22nd place. At the restart, Alecco Roy briefly pushed past Giorgio and Jonny, but two laps later he made a mistake and dropped a long way back. Giorgio and Jonny gained their places back, but then Jonny ran wide a few times, which was exploited immediately by his pursuers. Jonny dropped back a few places and was now 16th. Axel made up some places at the start and held steady for lap after lap, before improving to 20th place. Towards the end of the race Giorgio and Aron were fighting for places, but the two clashed and then spun off together into the gravel trap, which was a shame! The closing minutes of the race took place under the Safety Car as a result. Jonny crossed the finish line in 14th place, Axel was 18th, and Giorgio was classified 22nd. Aron was punished for causing the accident by being relegated by 5 places on the grid for Race 2.

Race Two (30 minutes)

Sunday, 09/06/2019, 09.55, Weather: Sunny, 27°C

Temperatures were already high by 10 o'clock in the morning. The start went smoothly and Giorgio improved to 11th place, Jonny was 14th and Axel was 22nd. Jonny experienced a couple of very tough first laps in which he was hit twice. Finally, his front wing and rear suspension were so badly damaged that unfortunately he had to abandon the race in the pit lane. Giorgio drove well and improved to 10th place, then to 9th. On the penultimate lap he managed to grab 8th place, the much sought after position because it means pole position for race three (the first eight finishers in the second race start in reverse order). Axel also had a good race, battling his way forward to 19th place. The winner of the race, Dennis Hauger, was handed a 30-second time penalty after the race, which put him back in 14th, and moved our drivers one place forward each on the result sheet. Giorgio was now 7th and Axel was 18th.

Race Three (30 minutes)

Sunday, 09/06/2019, 15.35, Weather: Sunny, 28°C

The third race was run in equally hot weather. Giorgio got off to a good start and slotted into 2nd place behind Krütten. The restart after a short Safety Car phase went well and Giorgio remained just behind Krütten. A few laps later Petecof appeared in Giorgio's rear view mirror. Petecof was on a run, putting pressure on Giorgio, and in one of the corners he launched an attack around the outside. Unfortunately, the two clashed spectacularly, landed together in the gravel traps. Fortunately, the drivers were fine, but a good result had dissolved into dust. Jonny started a long way back and worked his way up lap by lap, taking the chequered flag just outside the top ten, in 11th place. Axel drove a consistent race and brought his car safely home in 18th place.
